This necklace is inspired by pioneering women in all industries and around the world who have paved the way for future women to have the opportunities to work in traditionally male roles.

The first woman in space, Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, flew in 1963. However space flight programs did not include women after her until the 1980s, which is crazy, like they thought, "yep, we've ticked woman in space off the list, no need for any more now".

I have included an option for your astronaut to be a woman of colour too as I am aware that when I feature ladies in my designs they are nearly always white. Dr Mae Jemison was the first woman of colour in space, which is awesome. Please see my other listing for my space ladies of colour.

I've hugely enjoyed making this necklace, I used a colour pallete which reminded me of the universe, galaxies, and rockets.

There are three colour options, Galaxy Marble, which is the dark bluey purple marbled one. Iridescent, which is not done justice by these photos and is slightly transparent, but shines ice blue, lilac, pink and gold. All have accents of silver glitter, holographic glitter, lilac and gold.

The necklace is laser cut from perspex in the UK and then hand painted, glued and assembled by me in Clevedon near Bristol. It comprises of two layers of perspex (the background is transparent) and measures 5.6cm wide and 8.5cm high. Served up in a recycled card Swank embossed jewellery box.
